PGSM originally aired on Chubu Nippon Broadcasting System (CBC) and Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) in Japan from October 2003 to September 2004. The live-action series had many similarities to original manga and anime yet was completely different. There were 48 "Act" (episodes) that aired in Japan, Saturday mornings from 7:30-8:00 AM, and two DVD specials (Special Act and Act Zero) that have been released.
